TransAsia Holds Employment Contract Law and Trade Union Round Table Meeting

Beijing: Effective on September 18th, the Implementing Regulations of the Employment Contract Law have been a long awaited development since the effectiveness of the Employment Contract Law at the beginning of this year. Directly in the wake of their effectiveness, TransAsia held an Employment Contract Law and Trade Union Round Table Meeting on 22 September 2008 for select clients to directly address the issues brought about by, and foster an open dialogue on the implications of, the new regulations.

Second Annual TransAsia Students of Legal Excellence Scholarship Awarded at East China University of Politics and Law

On 18 June 2008, TransAsia partner, Jesse Chang awarded the second annual TransAsia Students of Legal Excellence Scholarship to 10 deserving East China University of Politics and Law graduate students at a ceremony held at the university. Associate professor, Ms Jun Shao, and assistant dean, Mr Yueming Wang, of the graduate school presided over the event.

On 12 June 2008,  Dr Isabelle Wan, leader of TransAsia's employment practice, delivered a lecture at the Northwest University of Politics and Law in Xi'an to select faculty members and 30 students from the university's Employment Law Clinic. Dr. Wan's lecture was entitled "Approaching China's Employment Law: the Front Line, the Horizon and the Dream", and it addressed professional ethics for legal professionals, the background and current status of PRC employment law, and the application of the new Employment Contract Law.
