Beijing: TransAsia Senior Partner and head of its employment law practice Dr. Isabelle Wan and Managing Partner Mr. Jesse T H Chang recently participated in the 2009 ALB In-House Legal Summit China. The Summit, now in its sixth year, brought together leading senior-level corporate counsel, business leaders and private practice lawyers to focus on the latest legal issues as identified by the top domestic and international law firms. This special one-day event also included a Managing Partners' Forum - Exploring new ways of Sino-foreign cooperation in a new world where China will play a larger role - and a panel discussion on the vital role of in-house counsel.

Dr. Wan delivered a presentation titled "Essential Employment Law Developments: Must Know for Employers" which focused on the key issues for employers following the promulgation of the Employment Contract Law and its Implementing Regulations, as well as the newly issued Implementing Measures for the PRC Law on the Protection of Women's Rights and Interests. Through the use of practical case studies Dr. Wan addressed those often overlooked issues that potentially pose a huge risk to employers and their operations in China. Mr. Chang was invited to participate in the Managing Partners' Forum which discussed strategies for increasing Sino-foreign relations, the changing dynamics between Chinese and International firms and the difficulties faced during cooperation.
