ChinaGoAbroad (CGA) and the NDRC’s China Outbound Development Association (CODA, CGA’s co-founder) sponsored the U.S.-China Energy Cooperation Meeting. The guests of honour at the Meeting were U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi.

This event was co-hosted by the U.S.-China Energy Cooperation Program, CODA; the U.S. Departments of Commerce, Energy and State; China’s National Energy Administration, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the Environmental Defense Fund.

During the Meeting, CGA’s CEO Jesse Chang (Managing Partner of Transasia Lawyers) delivered a presentation about CGA, and also later explained the project in person to Sec. Kerry when he visited the CGA booth. Sec. Kerry commented that the CGA is a “very impressive concept”.

The Meeting was part of Sec. Kerry’s official discussions with State Councilor Yang on enhancing the cooperation between China and the U.S. in the energy sector, which had a particular emphasis on clean energy and the reduction of emissions. It was attended by senior representatives from leading SOEs such as Sinochem, China Shenhua and the China Power Investment Corporation and multinationals such as Peabody and Westinghouse as well as the U.S. Embassy. Welcoming remarks were made by Mr. Zhang Guobao, Chairman of CODA and formerly a Vice Chairman of the NDRC and the chief of the National Energy Administration. Chairman Zhang is an enthusiastic supporter of CGA and personally invited CGA to be introduced at the Meeting.
