Our Firm

One of the leading law firms licensed in the People's Republic of China, TransAsia was established by attorneys who have been advising on investments into and out of China since the early 1980s.  With offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong (associated) and Tokyo (alliance), and a team of 70 professionals, we are committed to providing quality, efficient and practical legal advice.

The majority of our lawyers are admitted to practice in the PRC; others are qualified in the United States, Australia, Hong Kong and Malaysia.  Our team of professionals has extensive knowledge of Chinese law and commercial practice.  Many of them have also written authoritative publications on PRC law, and advise government agencies on their specialized practice areas.

Practice Areas

TransAsia advises on a diverse range of areas, including market entry, regulatory approvals, corporate structuring, employment, commercial contracts, intellectual property, mergers & acquisitions, arbitration & litigation and crisis management.  We also handle partner selection, due diligence, full documentation and regulatory approvals.

In addition to our specializations, we have substantial experience in building materials, semi-conductor and electronics, personal safety equipment, fire and security control, retail, insurance and other key sectors.

Government Work

TransAsia has a close strategic relationship with the China Industrial Overseas Development & Planning Association under the National Development and Reform Commission of the PRC.  TransAsia cooperates with the Association to act as a bridge between Chinese corporations and their overseas partners for purposes of outbound international investments.

We also work closely with various PRC government agencies that regularly seek our advice on new legislation and for the preparation of official English language translations.  Recently, TransAsia was invited by the SARFT to assist in the publication of China's Laws and Regulations on Radio, Film and Television (SARFT 2009).
