On 18 June 2008, TransAsia partner, Jesse Chang [1] awarded the second annual TransAsia Students of Legal Excellence Scholarship to 10 deserving East China University of Politics and Law graduate students at a ceremony held at the university. Associate professor, Ms Jun Shao, and assistant dean, Mr Yueming Wang, of the graduate school presided over the event.
The scholarship aims to identify, encourage and reward academic and overall excellence by granting 1 first-place, 3 second-place, and 6 third-place scholarships, with the ultimate objective of promoting the development of exceptional legal professionals.
Each year, a committee consisting of TransAsia's senior partners awards these scholarships to recipients based on academic record, good citizenship, involvement in campus organizations and English-language ability. Special consideration is given to those students specializing in international, civil, and commercial law. All recipients are also required to take a strict written examination as well as participate in a review and interview process.
Following the awards presentation, Jesse delivered a congratulatory speech to the students and held an interactive Q&A session.
