TransAsia has a close strategic relationship with the China Industrial Overseas Development & Planning Association under the National Development and Reform Commission of the PRC. The Association consists of the top 200 Chinese enterprises, including giants such as the China Development Bank, BaoSteel, Chinalco and PetroChina.
TransAsia cooperates with the Association to act as a bridge between the Chinese government and overseas industries for the advancement of Chinese investments across the globe. In partnership with the Association, we jointly hosted the "Investing in the U.S. 2006" conference with Covington & Burling, and the “Invest in Australia - Beijing" conference with Freehills in 2007 and 2009. These invitation-only events were each attended by over 200 senior business leaders and government representatives from both countries. Vice Chairman of the NDRC, Minister Zhang Xiaoqiang delivered the two keynote addresses.
We also work closely with various other government agencies, including the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (formerly the Ministry of Labor and Social Security), the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (formerly the Ministry of Industry and Information), the State Administration of Radio Film and Television, the General Administration of Press and Publication, and the Ministry of Culture, to advise them on new legislation and to prepare the official English language versions of laws and publications. TransAsia was recently invited by the SARFT to assist with the translation of China's Laws and Regulations on Radio, Film and Television [1] (SARFT 2009). We also assisted the SARFT with its China Multi-Media Broadcasting (CMMB) project - China's first domestically developed mobile TV standard. We advised on the formulation of standard policies, cooperation with industry players, the identification of strategic partnerships, legal structuring and corporate financing.
TransAsia enjoys a reputation for providing effective advice and guidance on all manner of regulatory issues, particularly in highly regulated industries. These include crafting business licenses, obtaining and maintaining permits, government relations and crisis management.
