Shanghai: The Summit, organized by China Decision Makers Consultancy, presented attendees with an insight into the developing luxury market in China, and featured speakers from various international luxury companies, including LVMH, Calvin Klein, Hermes, Prada, Ports and Ferretti Yachts.

In support of this Summit, Isabelle Wan [1] led a workshop that provided attendees with an overview of PRC labor law and practical illustrations, covering the following topics:

• Labor law trends, including an introduction to the draft Employment Contract Law
• Drafting essential management-related employment documents
• Common mistakes in employment contracts
• Wages and overtime pay
• Expatriates working in China
• Hiring of employees by foreign-invested enterprises and rep offices
• Employers' liabilities when terminating employment contracts
• Proper handling of labor disputes
• Strengthening of the power of trade unions by law

Jesse Chang [2] was also invited to act as a moderator for a panel discussion on building a healthy retail environment for the growing luxury industry to prosper in China. The discussions covered various topics, including:

• Immature retail environment prompts an urgent call for improvement in retail management
• Ambitious expansion requires more high-end retail capacities
• Retail excellence in China achieved with the multi-support and cooperation of partners
