Pro Bono

Our firm is committed to public service. We strongly believe that we have a professional duty to volunteer our time and services to those in need, without the expectation of compensation.

We provide pro bono legal services to individuals as well as to a variety of non-profit and public service organizations dedicated to improving the quality of civic life and the environment. Our pro bono clients receive the same professional quality of service that we provide to all of our clients, and we treat each matter with equal consideration and attention.

Recent projects include:

  • advising Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières on confidentiality issues and legal structure options in the PRC
  • guided a U.S. company on the establishment of an orphanage and child care center in China dedicated to helping poor children throughout the country
  • provided legal assistance, at the request of the local judicial bureaus, to employees unable to afford counsel in disputes with their employers
  • advised World Wide Fund on its sustainable palm oil roundtable project in China for their forest protection program

Our Beijing and Shanghai offices also have active pro bono programs designed to promote a higher degree of mutual understanding between international media companies and Chinese regulators. We regularly conduct workshops and prepare special reports on selected topics. Recent topics have included TV shopping regulations and online piracy.
