About Ben

A partner of the employment law practice, Ben has been advising clients on employment-related matters for 7 years. He has extensive experience in legal compliance, anti-corruption, stock option incentive, termination and retrenchment, labor dispatching, sexual harassment, work-related injury, non-competition, privacy and data protection, trade unions and collective wage bargaining, labor dispute resolution (mediation, arbitration and litigation), and crisis management.

In addition, Ben advises and assists clients with various intellectual property matters (e.g., IP licensing, copyrights, domain names, trademarks, patents, and trade secret protection) and commercial disputes.

Recent Projects

  • Advised a Fortune 500 company on transferring its employees due to the divestiture of its subsidiaries in various Chinese localities, coordinated with the local authorities, and negotiated with the employees on the transfer.
  • Advised a well-known biochemical MNC on the unilateral termination of its Greater China president for causing severe losses to the company. Later represented the company in a series of follow-up arbitration and litigation cases initiated by the ex-president.
  • Represented a world-leading retail company in a commercial arbitration dispute in its claim for several hundred millions’ worth of unpaid social insurance premiums and housing funds due to misrepresentation in an M&A transaction.
  • Advised a well-known European company on employment matters relating to the closure of its Chinese entity.
  • Represented the local subsidiaries of a famous US company in dealing with a collective strike which resulted from underpaid social insurance premiums, housing funds and overtime wages. Negotiated with the trade union and employees’ representatives for back payment and defended the company in a lawsuit initiated by more than 40 employees.
  • Advised a famous Australian logistics company on handling a series of arbitration and civil litigation matters in a dispute over an ex-employee’s invention.
  • Represented a well-known French gaming company in its investigation of trade secret disclosures and later initiated legal proceedings against three company employees for divulging trade secrets.
  • Advised a US advertising company on the licensing of Chinese font’s copyright with a foodstuff MNC and a well-known Chinese font company.
