About Dr Wan

Leader of TransAsia's employment law practice and co-leader of its intellectual property law practice, Dr Wan has 20 years' experience in advising clients on foreign direct investments in China. Dr Wan is the first non-PRC national to serve as a Director of the China Labor Law Studies Association, following her nomination in 1997 by the PRC Ministry of Labor & Social Security (MOLSS, now known as the Ministry of Human Resources & Social Security). In 2006, she was appointed as a Director of the China Social Security Law Research Association, where she is the only representative from the Hong Kong SAR.

Government Advisory and Pro Bono Work

In 2004, Dr Wan advised the MOLSS on the 2004 Regulations on Labor and Social Security Supervision, and the MOLSS and All-China Federation of Trade Unions on the landmark PRC Employment Contract Law (effective as of 1 January 2008). She also participated in the discussions on the amendment to the PRC Elderly People's Protection Law (2008).

Dr Wan is also an adjunct profession of PRC employment law at both the Peking University Law School and the Northwest Politics & Law University Law School, as well as a Master Tutor of International Business at the Shanghai University for Science and Technology. She is also a regular guest lecturer at Tsinghua University's MBA program.

Dr Wan was also invited to participate in the drafting of the 2005 PRC Electronic Signature Law, and frequently participates in various legislative work relating to online transactions and e-commerce. She was also one of the three advisors to the government in the drafting of the 2009 Guiding Opinions on the Protection of Online Commercial Data.

  • Head of TransAsia's employment law practice, where the firm was awarded "Law Firm of the Year" for employment law in China for 2010 and 2011 by Chambers & Partners; recently, the employment law team was also by China Law & Practice as the "PRC Team of the Year 2011 for Labor & Employment" and was also selected as a Tier 1 firm by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific (2012)

  • Voted as one of Asia's "Leading Lawyers" for 2012 by Asialaw Profiles
