About Pascal

Pascal is a corporate lawyer with a practice focusing on M&A, joint ventures and commercial transactions. He works across a wide range of industries including natural resources, renewable energy, and IT and telecoms. A founding member of the Outbound Investment team, he has extensive experience advising Chinese clients on their investments in the minerals and natural resources sectors abroad, particularly in Australia and South-East Asia.

Pascal is also a valuable member of TransAsia’s Employment practice, in which capacity he is regularly involved in the preparation of related documents and the resolution of labor disputes (mediation and arbitration).

Recent Projects

  • Advised China Shenhua on its acquisition of the exploration rights to a coal mine in New South Wales 
  • Advised Oz Minerals on its AU$ 2.6 billion asset sale to China Minmetals 
  • Advised Indophil Resources NL on its AU$ 545 million takeover by Zijin Mining Group 
  • Represented Research in Motion in concluding its sponsorship agreement with the Shanghai Expo 2010 to be the official smart-phone provider of the Expo. 
  • Represented Carbon Trust in forming a foreign-invested venture capital enterprise with China Energy Conservation Investment Corporation 
  • Served as counsel to II-VI on the establishment of a joint venture in Hubei Province, and on an offshore share acquisition 
  • Represented Sperian Protection in its acquisition of assets in Jiangsu Province 
  • Represented a multinational retail company on the resolution of a highly contentious labor dispute involving several hundred employees
